Flow injection is a versatile sample introduction method in combination with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry for elemental analysis. Advantages of the technique include small sample volumes and the ability to analyse solutions of high dissolved solids content. Applications of FI-ICPMS are illustrated form recent literature.
